Program Description:

Universidad Complutense de Madrid is the largest and most prestigious university in Spain.  The university has its origins in the 13th century and is one of the oldest universities in the world.  UCM offers intensive language courses for exchange students prior to the semester's start!  Most of the university faculties are situated in the Ciudad Universitaria at Moncloa. However, the Faculties of Political Sciences, Economics and Business Administration and Psychology are situated in the new campus in Somosaguas. All coursework and students are held to extremely high standards. Exchange students are treated with the same level of expectations as natives and will receive the same level of advising. With a large number of sport clubs, exercise classes and fantastic facilities, UCM has something to spark everyones' interests outside of classes.

UCM is located in Madrid, Spain, a city of around 3 million.  It is located in the center of Spain, and several mountain ranges.  Spain is a beautiful, diverse, and accessible country. Over 50 million tourists each year are drawn to its pleasant climate, beautiful beaches, good food, and lively culture. Madrid, the capital of Spain, is a lively city. The people are always in the streets, on their way for some tapas, drinks, a movie, or just to meet up with friends. The city is filled with students and young people.

Courses
Before going abroad, you will need to investigate the courses available at potential host institutions. OSU students studying abroad must take at least the equivalent of 12 OSU credit hours during their exchange semester. Please be sure to read the course descriptions provided by the host institution and compare them to your coursework at OSU. 

OSU students studying at UCM have taken courses in Spanish, humanities, history, geography, and more. The majority of courses are taught in Spanish. Click here for more information on the courses offered by UCM. Not all courses are open to exchange students. 

CompultensedeMadrid3Requirements
Students participating in a reciprocal exchange program must have completed at least 45 credit hours and have a cumulative 3.0 GPA or above at the time they intend to participate. Students must prove they have at least a B2 proficiency in Spanish to study at UCM or a C1 if wanting to take courses in the Spanish Department (Philology).

Housing
The university suggests off campus housing for its exchange students but does not assist with accommodations. For more information, please refer to the UCM accommodations website and suggested housing website

Visa Information
Students studying for 90 days or more are required to obtain a student visa or residency permit. Please refer to the website of the embassy or consulate to obtain visa information. The Spanish Consulate in Houston will process visas for all Oklahoma State University students.  An appointment and visit to the consulate in Houston is required. All requirements must be strictly followed and all materials must be presented during your visa meeting.
