zaragoza2Universidad de Zaragoza has existed since the 12th century, but was founded in 1542, and is one of the oldest universities in Spain.  It is the only public university in the region (Aragon), and home to 22 faculties with around 40,000 students.  It is considered one of the best public universities in Europe and was originally based on a Parisan university model. This very rigorous school has multiple campuses in Spain.
Spain is a constitutional monarchy and has been a member of the EU since 1986.  Spain has 45 million visitors a year.  Its diverse history of Roman, Gothic, and Moorish inhabitants have each left a distinct mark on Spanish culture, which helps to draw in tourists.  Spain is legendary for its fiestas and bull fights.

Universidad de Zaragoza is located in Zaragoza, Spain, a city of around 700,000.  It is located in the valley of Ebro with a variety of landscapes, ranging from desert  to thick forest, meadows and mountains.  The city is famous for its folklore, local gastronomy, and landmarks such as the Basílica del Pilar, La Seo Cathedral and the Aljafería Palace. Together with La Seo and the Aljafería, several other buildings form part of the Mudéjar Architecture of Aragon which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Before going abroad, you will need to investigate the courses available at potential host institutions. OSU students studying abroad must take at least the equivalent of 12 OSU credit hours during their exchange semester. Please be sure to read the course descriptions provided by the host institution and compare them to your coursework at OSU. 

The majority of courses taught at Universidad de Zaragoza are conducted in Spanish. Students with a solid Spanish proficiency can take courses in most disciplines, but it is recommend to have at least a B2 level of Spanish proficiency. Students have taken courses in Spanish, business, philosophy, history, and more! Some business courses are offered in English.

Some courses in Exercise and Sport Science, Business Administration, Public Administration, Early Childhood Education, Education, and Environmental Science are taught at the Huesca campus, located 80km north of Zaragoza.

Students participating in a reciprocal exchange program must have completed at least 45 credit hours and have a cumulative 3.0 GPA or above at the time they intend to participate.

Visa Information
Students studying for 90 days or more are required to obtain a student visa or residency permit. Please refer to the website of the embassy or consulate to obtain visa information. The Spanish Consulate in Houston will process visas for all Oklahoma State University students.  An appointment and visit to the consulate in Houston is required. All requirements must be strictly followed and all materials must be presented during your visa meeting.
