Established in 1860 as the University of Iasi, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University is the oldest university in Romania, just one year younger than the Romanian state itself. Initially composed of three colleges (Philosophy, Law, and Theology), the university 
AlexandruloanCuza2is now made up of fifteen faculties ranging from the Faculty of Business to the Faculty of Roman Catholic Theology to the Faculty of Computer Science. Gaining an international reputation for excellence before World War II, the postwar Soviet occupation imposed formal constraints on ideological freedom and contact with the West, but faculty strived to maintain their academic standards in the face of Soviet restrictions.
Twenty-five years after the fall of the USSR, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University has continued to strengthen its reputation for international excellence. With just over 25,000 students (including around 500 international students), the university leads the nation in research and education and participates in several international exchanges.

Location
Romania is located between Central Europe and Southeastern Europe.  Romania is the eighth largest country in the European Union.  Iasi is one of the largest cities in Romania.  Iasi has traditionally been one of the leading centres of Romanian social, cultural, academic and artistic life.  Iasi is known as the cultural capital of Romania and serves as a symbol of Romanian history.

Courses
Before going abroad, you will need to investigate the courses available at potential host institutions. OSU students studying abroad must take at least the equivalent of 12 OSU credit hours during their exchange semester. Please be sure to read the course descriptions provided by the host institution and compare them to your coursework at OSU. 
OSU students studying at Alexandru Ioan Cuza University can take business, computer science, and English courses.

Requirements
Students participating in a reciprocal exchange program must have completed at least 45 credit hours and have a cumulative 3.0 GPA or above at the time they intend to participate.

Alexandru Ioan Cuza University offers on-campus housing options for international exchange students. 

Visa Information
Students studying for 90 days or more are required to obtain a student visa or residency permit. Please refer to the website of the embassy or consulate to obtain visa information.
