OSU Study Abroad Scholarships Application

Description

Students studying abroad while at OSU are eligible to receive consideration for a number of generous scholarships specific to the Study Abroad and National Student Exchange Office. Through university and donor support, students filling out our single application can be considered for five different scholarships. All scholarships require students to be enrolled in a credit-bearing program abroad to receive consideration. Brief descriptions of each award and their individual criteria can be found below:

  • Provost’s Study Abroad Office Scholarship- Established to offer an incentive for OSU students to study abroad.  The scholarship provides one-time funding for degree-seeking OSU students participating in credit bearing programs and activities outside the U.S.

  • Don and Cathey Humphreys’ Study Abroad Scholarship- Established to offer students with demonstrated need the opportunity to fund long-term study abroad experiences.  The scholarship is open to OSU undergraduate and graduate students participating in credit bearing programs and activities outside the U.S. Program must be 8 weeks minimum in length and credit bearing.

  • Bill and Ann Oglesby Endowed Scholarship Fund- Established to offer more students at OSU an opportunity to experience another culture abroad. Consideration given to both short-term (3 weeks or shorter) and long-term programs to students with demonstrated financial need. Preference given to student populations currently underrepresented in study abroad.

  • Ima Jean and Leon Norwood Undergraduate Study Abroad Endowed Scholarship- Established to offer an incentive for students studying foreign languages at OSU a chance to study abroad. Consideration is given to students who have studied at least 10 hours of foreign language, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, with languages in order of preference being German, French, Italian, Spanish, and any Asian language.

  • Marc Aarons Study Abroad Endowed Scholarship- Established to offer incentive for OSU students wishing to pursue academic studies in East Asia. Students must be enrolled full-time in a credit bearing program. Primary preference is given to students wishing to study in China, with secondary consideration for students studying in Japan.

  • Kimberly Hicks Scholarship for STEM Study Abroad- Established to offer incentive for OSU students enrolled in a STEM major and participating in a study abroad program. Priority is given to full-time students majoring in a STEM field who have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Consideration given to both short-term (3 weeks or shorter) and long-term programs.

Eligibility

  • In addition to the online scholarship application, students must have also started a separate program application for their intended study abroad program in the same online system by the scholarship deadline. Failure to have both applications in the system by the deadline will result in no further consideration for the award.*
  • Priority is given to undergraduate or graduate students with demonstrated financial need
  • Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the U.S.
  • Award amounts will vary depending on student need and program duration
